euphoric musings on a friday morning
Euphoric Musings on a Friday Morning is a short film made by my dear friend Liliana Bukalski, for which I had the honor of creating original music. This piece was made in Reaper with acoustic guitar, layered vocals, kalimba, and field recordings of a stream in Charlottesville, Virginia, all of which were recorded by Lily or myself.
The film is about the authentic joy of feeling like yourself in your own skin, particularly as a trans person. In keeping with the theme of authenticity, this piece was composed in my preferred manner of recording improvisation until something stuck. The result is a simple yet striking piece that is still one of the most “me” things I’ve ever made.

vampire
vampire is a track from my upcoming EP, which is currently untitled. It’s a collection of silly, outlandish songs that don’t fit in with the rest of my songwriting but that I love nonetheless. This song was born from a class I took on vampire folklore (yes, really) in undergrad and a phrase I thought was funny, and the lyrics became a careful balance of references to my class notes and vampire jokes that border on absurd. The result is a playful, catchy song that I’m very pleased I made.
growing up mags
Growing up Mags is the current working title of my upcoming album, which is made up of songs about my experiences as a young person dealing with queerness, turbulent mental health, and the inherent unknowns of growing up. Mostly, this album is a journal. Every song is a time capsule of how I felt at some point in my life, and every word is carefully considered. Working on this project has been a deeply personal and fulfilling journey, and I look forward to sharing it with the world.
bones in particular is about my experience with depression and anxiety and how exhausting it can be to live with a brain that is determined to hate you. This song is cathartic and honest and contains some of my favorite lyrics I’ve ever written.
in series
in series is a piece I composed alongside choreographer Lina Miller as a multimedia exploration of how choices pile up into different outcomes. It is based on the Riemann series theorem, which states that under certain conditions, an infinite series of numbers can be rearranged such that the sum of the series approaches any real number or extends infinitely. in series expands on the non-mathematical implications of this theory by imaging how different choices over the lifetimes of two people can change the circumstances and manner in which they interact.
I started composing this piece by building an instrument in Max 9 that let me trigger different pitches in the harmonic series and control the shape, duration, and vibrato of each one. Recordings of myself on guitar and Maddie Swenson on clarinet are layered over recordings of the instrument I made, with four distinct sections representing two characters meeting too late, too early, not at all, and at the right time.
